The Burris family bought Mat Valley Meats located in Palmer Alaska in 2006. It was transformed from a custom game processor and small retail shop to the largest purchaser and promoter of Alaska Grown meat and meat products. With the help of some of the best salami makers and chefs from around the country, it has been transformed into a premier salumeria. Blending the traditional American butcher shop with European influences, we have created a one of a kind butcher shop.


In August 2016, Nate and DeAnn Burris, along with their nine children put all their work on display in their newest shop, Butcher Block No 9 and Charcuterie in Anchorage Alaska. You can find classic American meat products alongside traditional European specialties of the highest quality. Locally Grown steaks, chops, burger and a huge selection of fresh and smoked sausages line the shelves. You will not find a bigger selection of bacon anywhere.


Beginning April 2017 we have expanded into a lunch menu where you can enjoy our products prepared for take out.

We are proud to source the best quality, naturally-raised animals that are 100% Alaska Grown and raised by Alaskans. We are proud to provide animals that have never been treated with antibiotics, hormones, or steroids. We are commited to honesty and can verify that each and every Alaska Grown cut we offer is truly born and raised in our great state. Our beef is grass-grazed in Delta Junction from Misty Mountain Farm and our barley-fed pigs are coming out of Copper Center from Van Wyhe Farm.

Because we source locally, our fresh cuts and burger can go quickly! If you are needing to fill your freezer, consider filling it with local animals! We offer “Try It Packs” for a smaller variety as well as custom Cut & Wrap packages for both our beef and pork.
